5 Seconds of Summer Break Record

Jun 25, 2018 | 6:15 AM

Youngblood, the new album from 5 Seconds of Summer, takes the top spot on the Billboard 200, earning over 142,000 equivalent album units in the week ending June 21st. The group beat out Beyonc & Jay-Z’s collaboration album Everything Is Love, which landed at the No. 2 spot with 123,000 units..

5SOS is now the only band (not vocal group) in chart history to see its first three full-length studio albums enter the chart at No. 1. They’ve also become the first Australian act to have three No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200.

The band celebrated the album’s release with a performance on the Plaza, which was broadcast on NBC’s Today show Friday as part of the 2018 Citi Concert Series. Loyal fans camped out the night before to see the guys’ early morning show, which included the 2014 hit “She Looks So Perfect” and the title track from Youngblood.

Today, the band will take over National Sawdust in New York City as part of a “Tumblr IRL” event. Signe Pierce will transform the space into an interactive, neon-lit, Instagram-worthy experience for fans. 5SOS will answer questions from fans in an afternoon Tumblr Video Answer Time session and perform in the evening. More information can be found on 5sos.tumblr.com.

Tickets for 5SOS’ Meet You There Tour are on sale now. The 25-city North American headline outing will launch on August 27th in Toronto.
