KAMLOOPS — Kamloops area residents with a passion for peace, social justice and the environment joined together at Riverside Park Saturday (June 23) for the annual Peace Walk.

For the first time the walk was followed by a music festival. Artistic Director Bruce Campbell says he was satisfied with the turn out for the event.

“This is our first year, so we didn’t really know what to expect, but we’re happy.” Campbell said.

“For many years we’ve been doing this event at the Farmers’ Market, but this year we thought we’d do it differently and have it later in the year and then broaden the horizons as it were. Instead of having just the Peace Walk we would have a lot of music and other entertainment as well.”

Campbell says it’s important to join together, celebrate, and become empowered to make the world a better place.
