KAMLOOPS — Parents dressed their little ones in rubber boots and rain jackets to enjoy the 13th annual Teddy Bear/Mother Goose Picnic Thursday morning.
Various activity stations were set up in Riverside Park for the event, hosted in part by the Kamloops Early Language and Literacy Initiative (KELLI).
The picnic celebrates the completion of another year of Mother Goose programs.
“It is kind of like a wrap-up to our 64 Mother Goose Programs that we had throughout the year here today, and we’ve invited down a lot of those community partners that we do Mother Goose groups with, as well as many other people that work within the Early Years, so just to kind of showcase what they do. Our big goal is just to play and have some fun.”
While the rain may have had a small impact on the number of children in attendance, KELLI coordinator Maureen Doll says the kids had no problem playing in the rain.
“People are going to come anyways, that’s the beauty with children is they really don’t care what the weather is. If it’s really rainy they just want to get their gum boots on and get out there and play in the mud.”
