Searchers locate missing mushroom picker near Loon Lake
KAMLOOPS — As foragers enjoy what is likely to be a huge mushroom picking season, Kamloops Search and Rescue is asking people to let someone know of their whereabouts.
On Saturday evening the search team was joined by volunteers from South Cariboo and Nicola Valley search and rescue teams to look for a missing mushroom picker in the Loon Lake area.
Jenn Stahn with Kamloops Search and Rescue says the man had been reported missing around noon, and the search teams were called to assist RCMP around 9:30 p.m.
“Just as we were preparing for our second operational period, we had more volunteers coming in from a variety of teams throughout the Interior, the police dog team located the subject,” Stahn said. “He was tired and hungry and a little dirty from being out in the bush that long. That was around 7 a.m. that they located him, and they were able to walk him out.”
