New wildfire breaks out north of Savona
KAMLOOPS —UPDATE — BC Wildfire Service crews are at the scene of a new wildfire sparked northwest of Kamloops Wednesday evening.
The fire is reported to be about 60 hectares in size as of last night, burning out of control near Deadman-Vidette Road north of Savona. It’s in the vicinity of Allie Lake.
A social media post from the service notes the blaze is burning near the perimeter of last year’s nearly 200,000-hectare Elephant Hill wildfire, and smoke is visible from nearby communities.
The BC Wildfire Service is attacking the fire with both ground and air crews.
