Auction for Parkland Victims
May 17, 2018 | 6:15 AM
Twenty One Pilots, Panic! At The Disco, Paramore and other acts have donated items to an auction that will raise money to support those affected by the mass shooting at Florida’s Stoneman Douglas High School in February this year. Among the items are Twenty One Pilots vinyl bundles, a signed Panic! At The Disco album, autographed test pressings of Paramore singles, Paramore posters, plus items from Dashboard Confessional, Young The Giant and others.
- The auction is being sponsored by the record label Fueled By Ramen, which said in a statement, “Florida roots run deep within Fueled By Ramen. The label was born out of a college dorm room in Florida and the state is home to many bands on our roster, both past and present.”
- The statement continued, “When we learned of the recent tragedy in Parkland, we knew we needed to help. We reached out to our bands and began collecting special items from our offices. All of the proceeds from this auction will benefit Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and its students.”
- The shootings at Douglas High School on February 14th took the lives of 17 people, including 14 students and three staff members. 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz was arrested and confessed to the killings.
- The massacre surpassed the 1999 Columbine High School massacre as the deadliest high school shooting in American history and opened the door to a new campaign by surviving students for gun control legislation.
