EARLIER: A driver was fortunate to escape with minor injuries after her car drove into utility pole in Brocklehurst this afternoon.

Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says the crash took place near the intersection of Parkcrest Avenue and Holt Street, at about 2:15 p.m.

CFJC Today photos from the scene show the pole came crashing down onto the vehicle, with a large splinter piercing through the windshield.

Shelkie notes BC Hydro crews are required to lift the pole and its sagging lines off of the Volkswagen before it can be towed away.

There is no word what caused the woman to lose control of her car.
