An Evening to Remember – raising money for Kamloops Hospice

KAMLOOPS — The largest fundraising gala, raising money for Kamloops hospice is drawing near.

Friday is the 20th annual gala, An Evening to Remember – The Enchanted Garden, will celebrate the magic of compassionate care. The event will feature silent and live auctions, and money raised will go directly towards the expansion of the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Facility.

“We have fundraisers throughout the year, this year we have earmarked a large portion of this money to go to our new building expansion to equip the workshop room and the resource centre, so a lot of it will go towards equiping the new building, we have to raise funds just to keep our operations going,” says Wendy Marlow, Kamloops Hospice executive director. 

The Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice relies heavily on community support to keep its doors open. Every month, hospice needs to raise close to $70,000 to purchase food, medical supplies and more, to make patients and their families feel as comfortable as possible, and provide quality end of life care.

“Our goal this year is $125,000 for hospice, the other part that’s really imporant is awareness to our community, and also when you walk in and you feel the support of 470 guests who are coming there to support hospice, it’s very motivating and just reiterates the importance of what we do,” says Marlow.
