Raising awareness around Lyme Disease

KAMLOOPS — The spring months represent the heart of tick season – and May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month.
Lyme Disease is an inflammatory infection that spreads to humans through tick bites. It is characterized by a rash, headache, fever and chills, and in some cases is linked to neurological and cardiac disorders. A Kamloops woman who suffers from Lyme Disease, says it has been debilitating.
A walk to raise awareness for Lyme Disease, will be held Saturday May 5 at Riverside Park, at noon. Prevention and treatment will be key topics, to bring attention to what many call a growing epidemic.
