Motorists suffering from gas price sticker shock in Kamloops
KAMLOOPS — Tough day at the pumps for Kamloops motorists.
The price of gas has risen around 10 cents a litre the past couple of days all the way up to $1.419 at several locations and it’s expected to stay that way through much of the weekend.
Dan McTeague, senior petroleum analyst with Gas Buddy, says the sharp increase reflects some pretty big increases in gasoline markets throughout the United States and Canada.
“We’ve seen wholesale prices for gas go up about seven cents a litre just in the past week or so and it’s likely to be attributed not just to demand issues in the U.S. but also we have some refineries in Edmonton that are not running at 100 per cent. Two of them are going through maintenance so they’re not churning out as much gas as they normally do.”
