More flood concerns in Okanagan

KELOWNA —     Flooding in B-C’s Interior has closed roads and forced homeowners to prepare for a potential evacuation.

     The Ministry of Transportation closed Highway 33 from the Mission Creek Bridge to Kelowna yesterday due to a washout, and said last night that it remains unclear when the route will re-open.

     A mudslide also closed Highway 3-A north of Keremeos for several hours yesterday, but single-lane alternating traffic was allowed again in the afternoon.

     North of Oliver, 148 properties remain on evacuation alert after the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen warned Monday night that a dam and culvert in the area could fail at any time.
