KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops man is receiving treatment in a local medical facility following a police incident at the Brocklehurst dog park over the weekend.
Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says it stems from an incident that occurred at around 5:00 a.m. Sunday morning when police received a call from “a distressed male in the area of Tranquille Road and Ord Road.”
“When the male was located by police, he drove his vehicle into the parking lot of the Brocklehurst dog park, where it got stuck over an embankment. The male appeared to be under some emotional distress and refused to exit his vehicle for a period of time, thus requiring some traffic to be re-routed around that area.”
She says following a conversation with a police negotiator, the man safely surrended himself around two hours later when he was taken to a local medical facility.
