Stan Lee Stands Up

The 95-year-old Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee has released a video slamming reports that he is a victim of elder abuse.

“Hi, this is Stan Lee, and I’m calling on behalf of myself and my friend Keya Morgan. Now you people have been publishing the most hateful, harmful material about me and about my friend Keya and some others,” the 95-year-old Spider-Man creator said in a video released by TMZ on Wednesday night.

  • “Material which is totally incorrect, totally based on slander, totally the type of thing that I’m going to sue you’re a– off [for] when I get a chance,” he explained.
  • In a story published on Tuesday, The Hollywood Reporter compiled reports on his inner circle that implied Lee had been taken advantage of since his wife Joan died last year.
  • The report cited legal documents he signed in Feburary stating that he and his 67-year-old daughter J.C. Lee are in the midst of a battle over his estate and her trust. The doc reportedly claimed that three men with “bad intentions” were exerting undue influence on her.
  • Since the article was published, stars including Kevin Smith and Seth Green have come together, offering help to Lee.
  • This is the latest in a spate of bad news about Lee. A few weeks ago, Morgan reportedly found that one of Lee’s business associates stole vials of his blood and attempted to sell them, and in February, police launched an investigation into $1.4 million stolen from his home while he was in the hospital battling pneumonia.
