Fire crews deal with fire in Westsyde early this morning

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Fire and Rescue had to deal with a fire overnight in Westsyde.

Platoon Captain Rob Chalmers says they got the call to a residence on Wawn Place just before 1:30 AM.

Crews found a section of hedge and a shed on fire.

The fire was put out quickly, but Chalmers says the contents of the shed were destroyed and the shell of the building as well.

No indication yet as to the cause of the fire. Chalmers says they’re not sure yet whether the fire started in the shed and spread to the hedge or vice versa.
