Premier denies his government is “tearing the country apart”
VICTORIA — Premier John Horgan is rejecting claims that his government’s challenge of the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion is hurting the economy and tearing the country apart.
Kinder Morgan announced Sunday it was stopping all non-essential spending on the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion project, saying opposition from the B-C government puts the project at risk.
Speaking in the legislature yesterday, Horgan said his government is protecting the interests of British Columbians by asking the court if it has the right to restrict diluted bitumen in the pipeline.
Horgan said he spoke with both Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Alberta Premier Rachel Notley on Sunday and told both leaders to build more refineries instead of pipelines. (The Canadian Press)
