Gas prices predicted to keep climbing in Kamloops
KAMLOOPS — While Kamloops is not likely to see the same kinds of high gas prices as the Lower Mainland – the city’s motorists could still be in for more sticker shock at the pumps.
Dan McTeague, a petroleum industry analyst with GasBuddy, says the last time gas prices in Kamloops were as high as they are now was August of 2014.
“We don’t often see this in the month of March, we more see this during the summer demand period,” McTeague said. “We still have yet to face two major hurdles in the next couple of weeks: the Horgan government’s imposition of the 1.22 cent a litre carbon tax, followed very quickly by the change over from winter to summer blends of gasoline, which costs refineries about four cents a litre to do.”
Gas prices at most stations around Kamloops are currently sitting around $1.319 per litre.
