Kamloops MLA: NDP shift on LNG should be a wake-up call for Green supporters

KAMLOOPS — It’s gut check time for BC Green supporters.

That from Kamloops-North Thompson Liberal MLA Peter Milobar following BC Green Party Leader Andrew Weaver’s comments this week his party won’t bring down B.C.’s minority NDP government over its new policy framework on LNG.

On Thursday, Premier John Horgan announced a new framework ahead of a final investment decision on LNG Canada’s $40 billion project, which would include building a natural gas pipeline from northeast B.C. to a new terminal in Kitimat.

Weaver says his Greens will wait to see if the minority government can meet its greenhouse gas emission targets before taking any action. He indicated the party will wait until the fall before making a final decision.
