SEAN PENN IS DONE WITH ACTING? Sean Penn doesn’t get his kicks from acting these days. In a tease for CBS Sunday Morning, the Oscar-winner says: “It can be great when you’re working with good actors or good directors or good writing as an exercise. But do I have a belief that it has a lasting value? Maybe, I could make the argument intellectually. But I don’t have a visceral – I’m not in love with that anymore … I think that this has been true for some time.” In addition to devoting time to humanitarian work, his debut novel Bob Honey Who Just Do Stuff hits shelves this month.
PRINCE HARRY AND MEGHAN MARKLE’S WEDDING INVITATIONS ARE OUT: The invitations for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s wedding have been mailed, Kensington Palace announced Thursday. Around 600 people have been invited to the May 19th ceremony at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. They have also all been invited to Queen Elizabeth II‘s celebratory reception at St. George’s Hall to follow. However, from there, the list gets winnowed down. Just 200 will take part in the private reception at Frogmore House. Barnard & Westwood created the invites.
BILL MURRAY COMPARES PARKLAND STUDENTS TO VIETNAM PROTESTERS: In an anti-gun op-ed for NBC, Bill Murray took a strong stance, likening the Parkland students to Vietnam protestors. He wrote: “I was thinking, looking at the kids in Parkland, Florida who have started these anti-gun protests, that it really was the students that began the end of the Vietnam War. It was the students who made all the news, and that noise started, and then the movement wouldn’t stop. I think, maybe, this noise that those students in Florida are making – here, today – will do something of the same nature.”
WHAT DOES MATT DAMON THINK ABOUT BEN AFFLECK’S TATTOO? Unclear. While appearing on The Daily Show Wednesday, Matt Damon kept his thoughts to himself when host Trevor Noah asked him about his friend Ben Affleck‘s much-derided back tattoo. “It’s not one man’s job to tell another man what he can do to his back,” Damon said. “I support him in all of his artistic expression,” Damon laughed. Damon and Affleck go way back, he adds. “Unfortunately I can’t seem to shake him. I’ve known him since I was 10, so it’s 37 years.”
