Selena Gomez Almost Died

Francia Raisa is opening up more about her decision to donate her kidney to help save Selena Gomez’s life.

During a recent interview, the 29-year-old grown-ish star opened up about her difficult recovery while also sharing that the 25-year-old singer/actress nearly died from complications.

“Recovery was hard,” Francia told W Magazine. “I didn’t want to eat, I didn’t want to drink anything. Selena did have a complication, too.”

“A few hours after our surgery, I woke up and had a text from her that said, ‘I’m really scared,’” Francia shared. “My kidney was very active, and when she turned, she broke an artery. They had to take her into emergency surgery and get a vein from her leg and build a new artery to keep my kidney in place…She could have died.”
