Cranberries Celebrate 25th Anniversary
The Cranberries plan to release a new album and a 25th anniversary reissue of their debut album, Everybody Else Is Doing It So Why Can’t We? The group put the reissue on hold after their singer, Dolores O’Riordan, died in January. But the surviving members of the band have acknowledged that they had been working on a new LP before O’Riordan’s death, with the vocalist recording her vocals last year.
The band said, “After much consideration we have decided to finish what we started. We thought about it and decided that as this is something that we started as a band, with Dolores, we should push ahead and finish it. So that’s the plan, to finish the project and get the special 25th anniversary edition album out later this year.”
- O’Riordan died on January 15th while in London to record vocals for Bad Wolves‘ cover of the Cranberries’ hit “Zombie.” No cause of death was given at the time and final results of the investigation are not expected until April.
- The band also confirmed that it started working last year on a “very special” 25th anniversary edition of Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We? The commemorative version of the album will feature newly remastered tracks, unreleased music and other bonus material.
- O’Riordan enjoyed huge success with the Cranberries in the 1990s, recording hits like “Linger,” “Dreams” and the chart-topping “Zombie.”
