Kamloops Food Bank hoping to fill coffers with Empty Bowls
KAMLOOPS — It’s a unique way to raise important funds for the Kamloops Food Bank. The 3rd annual Empty Bowls fundraiser took place at Hotel 540 Friday, in an effort to make sure no bowls go unfilled for those in need in the city of Kamloops.
The fundraiser features some interesting celebrity memorabilia; bowls bearing the signatures of a number of celebrities were up for auction at the Empty Bowls event. Kamloops Food Bank Operations Manager Wes Graham says the idea for the unique fundraiser came from a similar event held in Winnipeg.
This year’s edition of the Empty Bowls fundraiser featured signed bowls from a number of different celebrities including Betty White, Dolly Parton, Molly Ringwald, and Edward Norton and even a personalized signed bowl from Sir Paul McCartney. According to Graham, the bigger the name of the celebrity who signs the bowl, the more money the food bank can expect to raise.
