KAMLOOPS — With the film industry booming in British Columbia, the Thompson Nicola Film Commission is looking to get a bigger slice of the pie which is why they’re hosting a Motion Picture Industry Orientation Course in partnership with Mastermind Studios this coming weekend.

The course will teach participants the basics of working on a film set, including etiquette and safety. TNFC Film Commissioner Vicki Weller will be the instructor for the course. She says the skills she’ll be teaching this weekend will also help participants learn about the variety of opportunities which exist in the motion picture industry.

“If you want to know where you may fit in[to the film industry], this is a good one to take. This is the course that will help them determine where their skills will be utilized best,” Weller explained about the curriculum she’ll be teaching this weekend. “What we find in the TNRD is that crews are generally looking for production assistants and construction workers… [having those pre-existing skills] makes them much more employable.”
