Snowfall to start Tuesday afternoon in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — Kamloopsians can expect a snowy commute home Tuesday.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Lisa West says the white stuff will start falling at around 4 p.m. and will continue through Wednesday morning.

She says we can expect two to five centimetres of the white stuff before all is said and done with a chance of lingering flurries all day Wednesday.

“Tomorrow looks better. We’re still going to have cloud cover around and we’ve got basically a very weak disturbance passing through the province which is going to give us a trace of flurries Wednesday.”

But on the bright side, West expects temperatures to rise a little with highs of -2 for Tuesday and minus four through the overnight period. That after lows reached a frigid -16 on Sunday and Monday.

For those venturing out on area highways, she says the snow will start falling on the Coquihalla this afternoon with five to ten centimetres expected to fall by Wednesday morning.

West says the snowfall will hit both northern and southern sections of the Coquihalla.

She suggests motorists take the Fraser Canyon if possible where only two to four centimetres of snow is expected over the same time period.
