Suspected case of baby trafficking in Quebec involving French national
MONTREAL — Provincial police say a report about an alleged case of baby trafficking involving a Quebec couple is news to them.
Montreal La Presse published details Friday of a June 2017 Quebec court judgment on the welfare of a young boy.
The ruling deals with a case where the couple allegedly arranged to take the baby from a young woman — a French national — with the intention of adopting him.
Quebec’s youth protection agency became involved when the mother, who’d travelled to Canada in October 2016 to give birth, refused to care for the child after it was born and gave up care to the couple.
