KAMLOOPS — Changes continue in the Kamloops RCMP detachment with news this morning that we will be losing the Detachment’s top officer.

Less than a week ago, Superintendent Brad Mueller announced that Inspector Todd Balaban would be taking over as the new detachment Operations Officer.

Now, Mueller himself will be replaced, as he heads to a new job working out of Edmonton.

RCMP Corporal Jodi Shelkie said this morning that Mueller has accepted a transfer to “K” Division (Alberta) and will be promoted to the rank of Chief Superintendent.

In a news release, Mueller says it was a tough decision to make for him and his family. He’s been here now for the past four years.

Mueller will take over the position of Deputy Criminal Operations Officer, meaning he will be responsible for oversight of all operational policing matters in relation to General Duty policing for the RCMP in Alberta.

His role will also include oversight of other sections supporting Criminal Operations in the province.

Mueller will be working with the City and the South East District RCMP over the next few months to identify his successor.

Mueller says the Kamloops detachment has done tremendous work and made great strides over the past four years, and says the detachment is well positioned going forward.
