Downtown Kamloops Library branch set to close for renovations

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Library has announced its branch on Victoria Street will be closed for a major facelift starting February 28.

Chief Librarian Judy Moore says it’s the first major renovation in 20 years. Phase One of the work took place between Christmas and New Year’s.

“The scope of the work during that time was to cut back those chevron panels that were obscuring the heating and ventilation system and really open up the views both onto Victoria and looking from the second floor onto Mt. Peter and Mt. Paul.”

She calls Phase Two of the job a revitilization and modernatization of the space which will include extensive construction work. Moore says the goal is to address the library’s functional floor space plan. She also notes the library will be consolidating its customer service onto the main floor.
