KAMLOOPS — New Gold is reporting a strong 2017 for its New Afton copper-gold mine just west of Kamloops.
While gold production was down from 2016, that was expected due to a decrease in grade and recovery.
Gold production still exceeded company expectations by about eight per cent.
Copper output in 2017 was higher than the prior year, with better grades and higher throughput.
New Gold adds costs were down for the mine last year, thanks to higher copper prices than expected.
