Man charged with killing ex-girlfriend extradited to Canada to face murder charge
Police say a Canadian man arrested in the U.S. and charged in the death of his ex-girlfriend last spring has been escorted back to southwestern Ontario.
Ager Hasan, 24, is accused of second-degree murder in the death of Melinda Vasilije, 22, whose body was found with multiple stab wounds in her home in Kitchener, Ont., in April 2017.
He was extradited to Canada from a Texas prison on Friday, Waterloo regional police said.
According to U.S. court documents filed as part of an application for Hasan’s arrest, Hasan had “difficulty accepting” the end of his relationship with Vasilije. The documents, which have not been proven in court, allege that he broke into her apartment several weeks before her death and attacked her roommate and her roommate’s brother.
