Suspect arrested after firearm incident at Kamloops Aboriginal Friendship Society

KAMLOOPS — A man is facing a variety of charges after an incident on the North Shore Friday afternoon.

Kamloops RCMP say police responded to a 911 call of a man inside the Kamloops Aboriginal Friendship Society building at 125 Palm Street.

The man was reported to be waving a handgun around, threatening people inside the building.

Police say the suspect was located a block away by officers responding and was taken into custody without incident.

Police Dog Fargo helped conduct a search for the handgun and located a pellet pistol.

The pellet pistol is an exact replica of a 9mm semi automatic pistol and police say it’s difficult even for gun experts to identify.

32 year old Joadth Michael Anderson from Kamloops has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, pointing a firearm and failure to comply with a probation order.

He appeared before a Justice of the Peace Saturday and is due back in court today (Monday).
