Westsyde rink kept going thanks to volunteers

KAMLOOPS — If you’re looking for an outdoor activity that involves frozen water, and skating instead of swimming, one of your best options in the city is the outdoor rink at Centennial Park out in Westsyde.

The rink is maintained by a dedicated group of volunteers from the Westsyde Community Development Society, including Ron Kuchma, who was out with another volunteer, laying down some fresh water Friday morning. Kuchma says without the society, the rink might not be a reality.

“I’ve been involved in it for six years,” Kuchma told CFJC Today. “I’ve taken over the reins form other people who’ve volunteered over the years.”
