Two-day police operation in Kamloops leads to drug bust, arrests

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops RCMP seized a large quantity of heroin and cocaine and arrested several people during a two-day police operation this week.
Cpl. Jeff Bingley says the mid-week police action was conducted by the RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit and Targeted Enforcement Unit, with the assistance of the ‘E’ Division CFSEU Gang Task Force with the purpose of “targeting criminal activity.”
He says the operation led to a large number of people and vehicle checks and resulted in the following arrests and seizures:
- A large quantity of heroin and cocaine were seized which resulted in two people being arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking.
- A male being arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking after a vehicle stop with approximately 45 packages of cocaine seized.
- Six people arrested with outstanding warrants.
- Three individuals were arrested in violation of their probation orders.
- Two vehicles were impounded when the drivers were found to be impaired by drugs. Both were handed 24-hour driving prohibitions.
- One man was found driving while suspended under the Motor Vehicle Act. The vehicle was impounded and stolen property was also recovered.
- A man was located and arrested in reference to a bait car activation in which the male is alleged to have taken property from the car.
- Prohibited weapons were seized
