Teens arrested in Vernon school threat

VERNON, B.C. — The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP are investigating a threat that was posted on social media, directed at the Vernon Secondary School.

Three youths were arrested in relation to the investigation.

Police say that this past Wednesday, RCMP were made aware of a threat that was made through a video posted to a social media platform.

The three youths have been charged with uttering threats and mischief.

They were released to their parents on conditions while awaiting their first court appearance.

RCMP Corporal Dan Moskaluk says “All the students, staff and parents of Vernon Secondary School have been made aware of the situation and the RCMP and School District 22 continue to work together on this issue to ensure the safety of the school. ”

He says RCMP are confident this was an isolated situation and there is no further threat to the school.
