RCMP looking for suspect after altercation at Tournament Inn in Valleyview

KAMLOOPS — Frontage Road is still blocked off at Vicars Road in Valleyview, as Kamloops RCMP continue to hold the perimeter around the Tournament Inn in search of a suspect who shot at a police officer early Saturday evening.

At around 10 p.m., CFJC Today reporter Adam Donnelly described the scene around the Tournament Inn as “eerily calm,” although he said there is still a heavy police presence in the area.

For most of the evening, there have been about a dozen police cars, according to witnesses in the neighbourhood, as RCMP try to track down a suspect who was involved in an altercation at the inn early Saturday evening.

Cpl. Jodi Shelkie said the altercation unfolded around 5:30 p.m. at the Tournament Inn.

Shelkie noted extra resources were called in on overtime, as there are RCMP officers still at the the scene of Holt Street, where a 24-year-old man was shot Saturday morning at an apartment complex.
