RCMP still looking for shooting suspect, homeowner silent

“We’re looking at surveillance tapes that may be from the neighbourhood. One of the victims did run across Fortune Drive over to McDonald’s,” said Cpl. Jodi Shelkie from the Kamloops RCMP. “We want to see if there was anybody in the area before or after that.”

According to B.C. Land Title and Survey Authority, the registered homeowner of 217 Nelson Avenue is Brandan Shankar. CFJC Today has attempted to reach him multiple times on his Lower Mainland phone number, but with no response. Shankar has owned the house since 2010, and the Kamloops Court Registry doesn’t have any record of any charges laid against him.

Kamloops RCMP have had difficulty getting in contact with Shankar since the shooting. Police say they’ll continue to monitor the house, as they’ve done for the last couple years.

“We had general duty members go in there on a daily basis and monitor. We would intercept people that were walking to and from there, and we also intercepted vehicles,” Shelkie said. “So we know who was going, what their criminal history was and we maintained a record of who was living there as well.”

According to Kamloops RCMP, 17 people were living in the residence at one point.
