Blazers looking to a return to the Sandman Centre by September 15

KAMLOOPS —  Blazers training camp, the Blue-White game next Tuesday and the two home pre-season games are all scheduled for McArthur Island.

The Sandman Centre has been the emergency reception centre for group lodging for wildfire evacuees since early July.

Most have now been given the green light to return home, which is great news for the evacuees.

Group lodging at the Sandman Centre is now closed, but the cots will remain for now in case of another flare up of the wildfires.

September 6th is a rough deadline for the evacuation centre to be closed, and the Blazers are hoping to be back in by the middle of September, about a week ahead of the regular season home opener September 23.

Blazers president Don Moores says they have discussed contingency plans with the city and the league should something happen that would delay that return to the Sandman, and says the first concern has always been with the evacuees.
