UDINE, Italy — An all-around attack led Canada past South Korea 91-45 on Saturday in the opener for both teams at the FIBA under-19 women’s basketball World Cup.

Shaina Pellington of Pickering, Ont., Hamilton’s Hailey Brown, Toronto’s Alyssa Jerome, Calgary’s Summer Masikewich, Sarah Donovan of London, Ont., and Laeticia Amihere of Mississauga, Ont., all contributed 10 points in Canada’s win.

“Our first game was good, but we still have a lot to work on,” said Amihere. “I’m excited for the next games to come because we know what we need to work on and every game will get better.”

The Canadians led by only one point after the first quarter but continued to build their lead throughout the game.
