Canada to play Australia in women’s lacrosse World Cup after beating New Zealand
GUILDFORD, England — Alie Jimerson had five goals and an assist and Dana Dobbie had three goals and three helpers as Canada downed New Zealand 16-1 on Wednesday in quarter-final play at the 2017 women’s lacrosse World Cup.
The Canadians will play Australia in the semifinals on Thursday.
Jimerson’s six-point outing earned her the game’s most valuable player. However, she was quick to acknowledge her teammates instead of her individual performance.
“Overall, it comes down to my teammates, they help me out a lot,” she said. “Most of the goals I scored were assisted. I may have had one or two drives, but again, they cleared space for me so I could go through.
