KAMLOOPS — It’s another busy day for crews on the wildfire front.
Kamloops Information Officer Jody Lucius says firefghters are concentrating on three wildfires within the Kamloops Fire Centre Sunday morning.
She says approximately 20 firefighters continue to battle a 42-hundred hectare fire on the Ashcroft Reserve.
Due to poor visibility it’s still too hard to determine the number of structure fires in the area.
Fire Information Officer Max Birkner says 11 firefighters are also battling two growing fires nears Dunn Lake, north east of Little Fort.
“They’re quite close to eachother,” said Birkner. “The one fire is around 400 hectares in size, and the second one is almost 500 hectares in size. The firefighters are working hard at establishing containment lines.”
The fires are listed as out-of-control however no structures have been damaged at last report.
Birkner says the blazes remain approximetly 14 kilometres away from Clearwater, adding there’s no immenent threat to the village.
Little Fort Residents and those in the surrounding area are being asked to stay off of Highway 5 to avoid further congestion as evacuees hit the road to seek safety in Clearwater and other communities.
Lucius says more than two dozens firefighters also focusing on a 15-hundred hectare fire in Princeton.
An evacuation order remains in effect for numerous properties.
