Kelson Group donates 400 pounds of non-perishables to Kamloops Food Bank

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Food Bank is always looking for donations to add to their shelves, and on Thursday the non-profit received another boost courtesy of the kelson group.

Employees from the kamloops office collected and dropped off about 400 pounds of food. It’s the first Kelson Group food drive, a company-wide initiative to help food banks in cities it operates in B.C. and Alberta. 

“We all know that food is a basic necessity, and the food banks in all these communities do a great job for filling that gap,” said Kelson Group Vice-President of Operations Jason Fawcett. “This is a logical place for us to help out and we’re just proud to do a small part for helping the food banks in every city. It was great to see the participation.”

Kamloops Food Bank executive director Bernadette Siracky says 400 pounds of food goes a long way to helping feed clients.

“That’s such a great little top-up to our shelves,” she said. “We’re very happy about that. Gives our volunteers food to sort. It gives these new supporters of the food bank an opportunity to carry food into our warehouse. It was just a really great day.”

The Kelson Group plans to make this an annual tradition and wants to make it bigger and better next year.
