Savona residents, business owners defend properties from high water

SAVONA, B.C. — The small community of Savona is dealing with the high water levels in Kamloops Lake. 

Flood waters have submerged and closed a community park, and low-lying homes are dealing with ground-water seepage. 

Resident Robin Craig says he noticed the water coming into his basement on Friday, and his sump-pump hasn’t been able to keep up.

“Sad thing when you are dealing with water because you can’t do anything. Water just continues to flow, no matter what you do. We went and invested in more pumps, we will see how that works,” said Craig.

Water is also creeping close to the Lakeside Country Inn, however its owner is less concerned about flooding, as cleaning up the property once the water recedes.
