Shawn Barber finishes third in pole vault after season’s best at Shanghai meet
SHANGHAI — Canadian Shawn Barber finished third in the pole vault at the Shanghai Diamond League on Saturday after clearing a season’s best 5.60 metres.
The 22-year-old from Toronto previously cleared 5.50 this season.
Sam Kendricks of the United States won the event by clearing 5.88 metres and Renaud Lavillenie of France was second.
Derek Drouin of Sarnia, Ont., failed to make a clean attempt in the high jump. Drouin is the defending Olympic and world champion in the event. Michael Mason of Nanoose Bay, B.C., was seventh.
