No sign of Clayton Cassidy, Cache Creek residents determined to find him

CACHE CREEK, B.C. — The recovery mission to find Cache Creek’s fire chief Clayton Cassidy has come up empty nearly a week after he went missing.

Cassidy was last seen at 3 a.m. last Friday as he checked out rising water levels along Cache Creek. It’s believed he was swept into the creek by fast-flowing waters and hasn’t been spotted since.

Volunteers have been out in the community, checking Cache Creek, the Bonaparte River, and the Thompson Rivers for any sign of Cassidy, but so far there’s been no sign of the man.

“The searchers are still out in numbers,” said Cache Creek mayor John Ranta. “The numbers have been pretty steady. On the weekend, it was about 130 volunteers, and more recently about 90 volunteers. Today it’s down a little bit, but still there’s people coming in the door when I was down there this morning. The community is determined to find Clayton Cassidy, and I’m sure they will.”
