KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP have taken down a massive marijuana grow op in Pineview Valley.

RCMP stormed a house in the 2000-block of Hugh Allan Drive last night.

Cpl. Brandon Buliziuk says officers found approximately 1500 plants in various stages of growth.

The plants have been seized for destruction.

No details regarding arrests or charges have been released, but Buliziuk says they could be made public at a later date.

He adds officers first heard about the home thanks to a tip from the public.

He notes, in addition to the more obvious dangers of an illicit residential grow op, these operations often make use of makeshift electrical wiring, and that can present the danger of a catastrophic fire.
