Advance voting resumes today

KAMLOOPS — Advance voting in the BC election resumes today.

The first two days of advance polling took place last weekend, and resulted in more than 230,000 British Columbians casting ballots.

The total voting in the two Kamloops ridings was 5,561 – or nearly seven per cent of registered voters.

Kamloops-South Thompson District Electoral Officer Sandra Sugden says that’s very positive.

Sugden says those who wish to vote in advance won’t be met with the same lineups they would see on May 9.

“I was down in the curling club this morning,” said Sugden. “They have a steady line of voters, of about 10 moving fairly quickly through the polls. It’s a very quick process. We’re using the ‘bank teller line’ (model) so they can go to whichever table is available next, and that’s working very well.

Voters should bring at least two pieces of identification, and Sugden says the voter information card they received in the mail can serve as one piece.

“It is very helpful, and it can also be one piece of identification for name and address. They would need a second piece of identification with it.”
