New fire chief Adams feels his vision for future will serve KFR well

“I think I’m a visionary and very strategic,” said Adams to CFJC Today. “I have some background in business, which I think will help our processes and looking for efficiencies. I’m curious, and I’m very much a team player. I believe that, as an organization, we can achieve much more than as an individual.”

Adams says he’s fortunate to have KFR’s strategic plan already in place. It’s now just a matter of executing it, and keeping up with services.

“There are 11 key points we were trying to achieve,” said Adams about the new strategic plan, which was approved by City Council in December. “We see there’s a great opportunity with our new training facility and burn structure and new classroom. This is for not only training our own people, but training external clients and others within the region as well. I think we’re well-positioned for that.”

He would also like to work on the fire department’s succession plans.

“If there are vacancies that come up, there are people prepared to fill from within,” noted Adams. “I think for the organization it’s a really strong indication that we have people here who can do the job.”
