Literacy Night to have early childhood professionals

“We’re really there to showcase the strength of the early years and the service that are available to families with children that are under five,” said Maureen Doll, the coordinator for Kamloops Early Language and Learning Initiative.

“We will have singing and dancing and all sorts of entertainment. Then, we’re going to have some play-based stations, because children learn by playing. That’s their work. That’s how they figure out problem-solving skills, fine motor skills, which is using their hands.”

Also at the tonight’s event is a unique opportunity to meet with early childhood education professional.

“There’s going to be a speak and language pathologist from the Child’s Therapy Centre. Lisa Johnson will be there. There will also be an infant development consultant, and they will provide an opportunity to come and talk to them if a parent or caregiver has any concerns or questions about any area of their child’s development.”
