Y Dream home creates dreams for many
Dream big or go home! You’ve heard that statement before. A dream creates hope for the future. And who wouldn’t want to dream about a brand new state-of-the art home that could be yours by taking part in the YMCA-YWCA Dream Home Lottery.
The 21st Annual YM-YWCA Dream Home Lottery is underway, and this year’s lottery is the biggest ever. The 2017 Dream Home, located on Kicking Horse Drive in Juniper Ridge, is truly a home to be proud of. Featuring things like a heat recovery ventilator to provide fresh air all the time, an air source heat pump that’s energy-efficient, and many other innovations to make you comfortable all year round, this year’s home has it all, including being located in one of the best family areas in Kamloops.
But here’s something even more important. By fulfilling your dream, you’ll be helping fulfill the dream of hundreds of young people who use the services of the Y, many of whom would not be able to participate without your generosity. The Dream Home Lottery is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the YMCA-YWCA. The Lottery provides help for many of the Y projects located throughout the City. Aside from providing equipment for the downtown Y and the North Shore John Tod Centre, part of the funds goes towards child and youth programming, things like after school care, swimming lessons, basketball and programs that serve some of the most vulnerable in our community. Because the Y is a charity, this funding allows it to grow and develop programs that contribute so much to the needs of the Kamloops area.
While the Dream Home is what it’s all about, it’s far from the only prize to be given out. In fact, there are 397 prizes to be drawn for this year, including five cash draws of $1,000, a 2017 Chevrolet Spark from Smith Chevrolet, $2,000, $3,000 and $5,000 grocery credits at Save On Foods, a trip to Paris (the real Paris) and a travel voucher from Marlin Travel, complimentary golf passes to Sun Rivers, Home Hardware Gift Cards, and a $1,000 Shopping Spree at Aberdeen Mall. Pretty impressive stuff.
