KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers fired 24 shots at Michael Herringer and he stopped them all, as the Blazers fell 1-0 to the Kelowna Rockets on Wednesday night at home. The Blazers trail the best-of-seven series 3-1 with Game 5 in Kelowna on Friday night.
The Blazers started alright, but the Rockets took over the game as the first period carried on. They outshot the Blazers 19-6 in a scoreless first period.
Dillon Dube got the Rockets on the scoreboard early in the second period as he was set up point blank by Carsen Twarynski. He scored his third goal of the series for a 1-0 lead. Connor Ingram was outstanding in goal on the night. He kept the Blazers in it, making 20 saves in the second period to keep it a 1-0 deficit.
The Blazers had a strong third period, as Rudolfs Balcers missed on three great opportunities in the third period. Herringer denied all 10 shots he faced in the final frame to preserve a 1-0 Rockets victory.
The Blazers finished 0-for-7 on the power play, while the Rockets were 0-for-3 on the night. Connor Ingram was impressive in goal with 48 saves, while Michael Herringer stopped all 24 shots he faced.
Game 5 will be in Kelowna on Friday night at 7:00pm. If the Blazers win Game 5, they will host Game 6 on Sunday, April 2nd at 7:00pm.
