Kamloops Fire Rescue officials say the cause of a fire that heavily damaged an industrial building on the Tk’emlups Reserve yesterday may never be known.
Firefighters were called to the two-alarm blaze on Athabasca Way just after 4:30 p.m.
Assistant Chief Dave McMahon says the building was shared by three tenants, two who were using it for storage and one for a welding and fabrication shop.
McMahon says the fire is not believed to be suspicious.
“Our investigators have been systematically working through the scene, and they have determined that the fire did start within the structure. They confidently understand where the fire started,” said McMahon.
McMahon adds the blaze damaged the majority of the building.
“About 70 per cent of that structure was involved by that fire, either smoke damage, or some areas were totally damaged and now affected by fire will now need replacement components.”
No one was hurt.
