Homes sales up in February over one year ago

KAMLOOPS —  While building permits in February were pretty quiet, home sales generated 5 percent more this February than last.

City of Kamloops spokesman Jason Dixon says 14 residential building permits were issued last month, compared to 40 in the same month last year. Commercial permits were up, but Dixon says most of those were smaller projects. He says the weather may well have played a factor in permits, and hopefully things will improve in the next month, with warmer spring weather.

But the weather didn’t have much of an effect on home sales.

The Kamloops Real Estate Board says 193 units changed hands in February of 2017. Value of sales this February was $68,055,000, compared to just over $61,000,000 in February 2016.
